SUMMARY

Perform all functions related to shipping goods from the establishment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Create packaging material for parts and machinery to be shipped.

Make crates out of wood and other materials.

Use hand saws and power tools.

Prepare shipping labels and enter the shipping data to the log.

Prepare skids of finished goods for shipping.

Use fork truck and manual moving devices to transport equipment and parts to the loading dock.

Load items to be shipped onto trucks after weighing.

Keep orderly files of shipping records

Notify the supervisor of low supplies of packing materials.

Maintain a neat and orderly work area.

Observe all health and safety requirements.

Perform other similar and related duties as assigned.

PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIRED

Safety shoes and safety glasses are required by all shop personnel and must be worn at all times while in the shop.

Face shields may be required during some cutting operations.

Hearing protection is available to all employees and is encouraged during noisy operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED

Must possess a valid Massachusetts driver’s license

1 to 3 years shipping or crating experience

REQUIREMENTS

• 1 years experience assembling or repairing complex machinery to close tolerances preferred.
• Strong mechanical inclination.
• Experience with hydraulic equipment and ability to read hydraulic schematics.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Problem solver and ability to take initiative.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
